On the 18th of July 2012, H.M. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received at Al Rawdha Palce the Japanese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, H.E. Mr. Shigeki Sumi and members of the Japanese community in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the reception, H.M. the King delivered a statement in which he welcomed the audience and asserted that members of the friendly Japanese community are an integral part of the “extended Bahraini family.”
H.M. the King cited his recent visit to Japan at the invitation of H.M. Emperor Akihito, praising the hospitality and warm welcome accorded to him by H.M. Emperor Akihito, his government and the friendly Japanese people.
H.M. the King also said that the visit coincided with the 40th anniversary of the Bahraini-Japanese ties, adding that Bahrain is looking forward to enhancing its solid ties with friendly Japan in the coming years.
H.M. the King also pointed out that Bahrain has succeeded in overcoming the repercussions of last year’s incidents through national unity, solidarity, openness and transparency, expressing the Kingdom’s admiration of the Japanese people’s perseverance and strong will in facing challenges, and keenness to promote peace and prosperity throughout the world.
H.M. the King also said that Bahrain is committed to its comprehensive consensus reform march, praising the Japanese government’s support and the key role played by the Japanese community in the kingdom.
Then, the Japanese Ambassador delivered a statement in which he extended, on behalf of himself and the Japanese community, sincere thanks and appreciation to H.M. the King for the invitation, adding H.M. King Hamad’s 3-day visit to Japan last April was fruitful.
H.E. the Ambassador also took pride in the meetings between the two ruling families in Japan and on the sidelines of the celebrations marking Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, expressing hope that friendly ties between the two families will be enhanced further in the coming years.
H.E. the Ambassador also said the Japanese community in the kingdom plays a vital role in consolidating friendly bilateral relations in all fields.
H.E. the Ambassador also reiterated his country’s support for the reform initiatives launched by H.M. the King, expressing Japan’s desire to work hand in hand with the kingdom in order to achieve more political stability and social justice.
H.M. the King also hosted a dinner banquet in honour of H.E. the Japanese Ambassador and members of the Japanese community.
