The Embassy of Japan in Bahrain is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Communications & Public Relations Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and enhancing the embassy's communications and public relations efforts to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Japan and Bahrain. 1. Job Summary
The recruited staff will work as a team with existing embassy staff under appropriate division of labor for the duties of the Economic, Public Relations, and Cultural Affairs Section, mainly focusing on communications & public relations efforts. The staff will also engage with other sections of the Embassy to act as a communication & public relations focal point of the Embassy. The staff will contribute to the team efforts by the Embassy as a whole as needed and appropriate.
(1)Key Responsibilities of the Economic, Public Relations, and Cultural Affairs Section
This section deals with inter-connected matters related to promotion of economic relations, culture, tourism, people-to-people exchange between Bahrain and Japan, while enhancing communication and public relations efforts for the embassy.
This section plays a key role in promoting economic relations, trade & investment, through various initiatives such as organizing networking events, hosting seminars and workshops. It also conducts research and analysis on economic and market matters and collaborate with relevant ministries, agencies, and stakeholders. It also promotes cultural understanding through events and exhibitions, strengthens ties with local cultural organizations and educational institutions, and disseminates information about Japanese culture and language. It also aims to promote inbound tourism to Japan and build relationships with local travel agencies.

Full-time position. A two-year contract, commencing June 1, 2025 (TBD). Probationary period of three months.

(2) Key Responsibilities of the Communications & Public Relations Coordinator
- Collaborate and coordinate and manage media inquiries, share information with local media and key stakeholders through various communication materials.
- Create digital contents for strategic external communication and disseminate through the embassy's social media accounts and website.
- Network with local media personnel and influencers.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership to enhance public relations efforts.
- Work as a team in planning, coordinating, and executing embassy events and programs, including cultural & educational programs, economic seminars, and official receptions.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful event delivery.
- Develop promotional materials and strategies for event marketing.
- Support the overall communications and public relations functions of the Embassy, coordinating across sections.
- Coordinate and collaborate with embassy officials and other staff as needed and appropriate.

3. Requirements/Qualifications:
- Residence permit status in Bahrain (CPR)
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Work experience in related fields such as economics, public relations, cultural exchange, event management, etc. is preferable.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic; proficiency in Japanese is an advantage.
- Proven experience in using digital tools and social media. Experience in media (newspapers, magazines, TV, digital marketing related) is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
4. Working Conditions
- Location: in-person at the Embassy of Japan to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Manama
- Working Hours: 7:30-14:30, Sunday – Thursday (except Embassy holidays) ※Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support events and activities.
- Salary: Determined at the time of employment according to skills and experiences.
- Benefits: Social security, annual paid leave, other benefits in accordance with the Embassy rules.
