The Environmental Lecture “The Way to the Low-Carbon Society: Challenge of the World, Bahrain and Japan” organized by Embassy of Japan and the Supreme Council for Environment

On the 18th of October 2016, Embassy of Japan in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Environment hosted an environmental lecture “The Way to the Low-Carbon Society: Challenge of the World, Bahrain and Japan”, presented by Dr. Shuzo Nishioka, Senior Research Advisor of Institute for Global Environmental Strategies. Governmental officials, businesspersons, scholars, environmental experts and NGO’s member have attended.
 
Eng. Luma Abbas Al Mahroos, Head of Environmental Assessment Section delivered her remark on behalf of the Council, accordingly H.E. Mr. Kiyoshi Asako, Ambassador of Japan to Kingdom of Bahrain had his opening speech. During his speech, the Ambassador stressed on the most serious environmental issues that we are facing including climate change, and suggest that  in order to protect this precious planet in the next generation, we need to have an international framework such as Paris Agreement that was agreed in COP21 by international leaders.
 
During the lecture Dr. Nishioka, explained the way to low-carbon society and the scientific basis of “Paris Agreement”, together with a future direction of oil producing countries, as well as Japan’s policy toward environmental issues. At the end of the lecture Dr. Nishioka and the attendees exchanged productive opinions.
