The Ambassador Visited GPIC

On 13 June, Ambassador Miyamoto visited the headquarters of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC). He was welcomed by Company CEO Mr. Yasser A.Rahim Alabbasi and members of Exective Management.
After the headquaters tour, palm planting ceremony in the company's garden was held.

・GPIC is a Bahrain-based petrochemicals manufacturing company that sells its products domestically and exports them to other countries such as the USA, China, India and Pakistan. GPIC is jointly owned by three major governmental entities: the National Oil and Gas Holding Company of Bahrain (NOGA Holding), the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) in Saudi Arabia and the Kuwait Petrochemical Industries Corporation (PIC). The capital is USD 160 million and the number of employs is 440. 92% of them are Bahraini.
・GPIC produces ammonia, urea and methanol by using domestic natural gas and with the introduction of related equipment and technical guidance from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 2007, CO2 capture and storage of GPIC was one of the world's largest capacities at the time.
・In 2014, a Japanese garden was opened in the Al-Areen Wildlife and Botanical Park, funded by GPIC and in cooperation with Kosugi Landscaping of Japan. The opening ceremony was held in the presence of HRH Princess Sabeeka and many other royal family members and government officials. The Japanese Garden continues to be a place of relaxation for the public.
