Hinamatsuri Iftar
2024/4/3

On 3 April, Ambassador Okai hosted a Hinamatsuri Iftar at the Ambassador's residence. The event featured a blend of two different cultures - the traditional Japanese festival of Hinamatsuri (Girls' Festival) and the Ramadan Iftar (meal after the fast) - and provided an opportunity to promote common values of mutual respect and diversity.
Guests enjoyed Japanese and Bahraini cuisine, including Hokkaido scallops and Shinshu salmon. The ambassador’s residence was decorated with Hina dolls and Ramadan decorations. The guests had hand-on experiences in Japanese culture while a Bahraini Urasenke lecturer conducted a tea ceremony accompained by a demonstration of making 'nerikiri' a Japanese confectionery.
