Reception aboad Japanese ship Murasame to Commemorate the 15th Anniversary of Japan’s participation in Anti-piracy Activities

On November 5, Embassy of Japan in Bahrain cohosted with Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) a reception aboard the Japanese Ship Murasame anchored at Mina Salman Port in Bahrain to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Japan's anti-piracy operation off the coast of Somalia and the Gulf of Aden.
Ambassador and Vice Admiral, Koji Kaneshima, Commander of Fleet Air Force of JMSDF gave speeches, looking back on Japan's commitment in the anti-piracy activities while H.E. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali, Director-General of Bilateral Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vice Admiral. George Wikoff, Commander of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) expressed their appriciation and high regards for the role Japan has played, in ensuring the safety of maritime navigation.
The guests enjoyed demonstration of mochi-tsuki (rice cake pounding), which served as an opportunity to become familiar with Japanese culture, and Japanese food prepared by the chefs of the Japanese Ship Murasame.
The reception, which was attended by over 120 guests, continued in the amicable atmosphere throughout.
