Japan Week Bahrain: Cooking, Tea Ceremony, and Pokémon — A Cultural Celebration for Bahrain's Youth

“Japan Week” will be held from 26th to 30th July at Youth City – Exhibition World Bahrain. The event, presented by the Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Bahrain in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, will offer various activities for Bahraini youth that connect and build rich cultural relations between Japan and Bahrain through cooking, traditional culture, learning language, education and development. The program contains a Japanese cooking workshop with Chef Tatsuji Seta, the Embassy’s new chef from Japan, a tea ceremony experience with Chawan Tea House, and Pokémon trading card game activities by a Japanese company, Active Gulf FZCO.
The Japanese cooking workshop will be held over three days from 27th to 29th July, and dedicated to youth aged 15 to 35 years old. Participants will be able to experience making Maki Sushi, decorative cutting of ingredients, while practicing Japanese phrases related to cooking. Certificates will be awarded to participants to promote a spirit of competence and create long-lasting memories through this unique cultural experience. (Participation is through prior registration on the eShabab application).
During the tea ceremony experience, held from 4:00 PM on 26th and 30th July for participants aged 15 to 35 years old, participants will be able to experience an authentic ceremonial matcha green tea while being introduced to the values of mindfulness, hospitality, and Japanese traditions through the traditional tea ceremony. (Participation is through prior registration on the eShabab application).
For four days of the event from 27th to 30th July, Pokémon trading card game activities will be held, and participants will learn through educational and enjoyable activities that enhance their critical thinking skills, strengthening their teamwork and communication, more than just collecting cards. This activity will be offered multiple times in the morning and afternoon, and timing is dedicated to a different age category.
