On 23rd February 2023, the Embassy of Japan hosted a reception to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor’s 63rd Birthday. The reception, held for the first time in two years since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, was attended by distinguished guests, including H.H. Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Governor of Southern Governorate, H.E. Dr. Mohammad bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment, H.E. Dr. Abdulla bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other government officials, diplomatic corps and private sectors.
The Japanese Ambassador Miyamoto, in his speech, recalled the visit of His Majesty the Emperor and Empress (then the Crown Prince and Princess) to Bahrain in 1994 and highlighted the significant milestones on the bilateral relations during 2021, the year of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, such as the Japan-Bahrain 6th policy consultations, the signing of the Agreement on Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investment (APPI), as well as the meeting between H.E. Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan and H.R.H Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain on the occasion of his participation in the state funeral of the late Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, accompanied by H.E. Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The distinguished guests,welcomed by mascot dolls of Osaka EXPO 2025 and new models of Japanese cars, enjoyed authentic Japanese sushi and tempura prepared by Ambassador’s chef as well as sake imported from various regions of Japan.
